Description: The technical writer is responsible for organizing, researching, and delivering high-quality API and programmer documentation. As part of the engineering team, the technical writer is responsible for supporting documents for the RealWorld® framework.
Duties:
- Work closely with team members in Engineering and Customer Support to obtain required information.
- Write, edit, organize, format, and deliver finished work such as API documentation, programmer user guides, and online help.
- Able to adhere to the Engineering team’s style guide and documentation standards.
- Work with the engineering team to constantly improve documentation quality and processes.
Requirements:
- B.A. degree in technical communications, English, journalism, or related subjects
- Minimum three years technical writing experience
- Experience regarding the following:
- Writing SDK, API, and programming documentation
- C++ and object oriented languages
- MS Office and Windows products
- Mediawiki
- Subversion (or other source control tools)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interviewing and listening skills
- Knowledge and practice of technical documentation industry standards
- Familiarity with commonly used patterns for Technical Publications
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Aptitude to learn software and tools quickly
- Ability to interpret complex system requirements for nontechnical end users
- Team player attitude
- Exhibit an excellent customer service attitude at all times
- Flexible, able to adapt to changing requirements, scope, and schedules
- Very strong multitasking experience
- Strong organizational skills with reliable follow-up ability
Preferences:
- Experience working in an Agile environment
- Experience working with simulation or computer game industry software
