Duration: 6 months

Location: Austin, TX

Project Overview: The worker will coordinate multiple complex training and development activities, as evidenced by an understanding and experience with practical state-of-the-art training techniques, methodologies and practice. The worker will be under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Work involves analyzing and assessing training needs, planning, designing, and organizing learning programs, researches, designs, develops, evaluates and reviews training programs and materials, and recommends modifications as appropriate. Designs and prepares curricula and course outlines; selects or develops instructional methods, training aids, manuals, and other material, assists in preparing reports, formulates and develops plans, procedures, and programs to meet specific training needs, manages projects both independently and in cooperation with training leads and subject matter experts. The services of the Worker will include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Design and develop instructional modules and new learning activities or revises existing programs, to ensure mastery of learning objectives. Critical outputs include: research of topic, design of curriculum and course outlines, learning objectives, instructor and student materials, exercises, workbooks, worksheets, job aids, post-tests, and other needed resources (all in an accessible formats as appropriate).
  2. Formulate learning objectives and consult with project team to identify and determine specific learning needs through analysis, assessment and development of materials.
  3. Translate highly complex technical materials, including but not limited to application design documents, into non-technical terms and/or curriculum.
  4. Develop and maintain curriculum and materials to proactively address training problems, learning strategies, approaches and appropriate learning interventions.
  5. Propose plans for continuous improvement in developing, delivering, and maintaining training curriculum, course outlines, and other training materials.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications (Minimum Requirements):

  • 10 years knowledge of state of the art adult learning theory and its application
  • 10 years knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development
  • 10 years knowledge of learning design
  • 10 years knowledge of needs assessment and evaluation principles, tools, and techniques
  • 10 years experience developing and maintaining on-line training curriculum
  • 10 years experience translating highly complex technical materials into non-technical terms
  • 10 years skills using Microsoft Office suite software

Preferences:

  • 15 years knowledge of the vocational rehabilitation process to help persons with disabilities become successfully employed
  • 5 years skills in developing training materials and curriculum for non-adaptive and adaptive software users (e.g., JAWS, ZoomText, Dragon, etc.)

Term of Service: Services are expected to start approximately December 15, 2009 and go through June 30, 2009. Total estimated Worker hours shall not exceed 1000 hours. This service may be renewed and/or extended further providing both parties agree in writing to do so.
