Description of Services: The Department of Information
Resources (DIR) requires the services of one Technical Writer, hereafter
referred to as Worker, who meets the general qualification of ITSAC Title/Level
Technical Writer, Level 2, ITSAC Technology Type Core and the specifications
outlined in this document for the Office of the Attorney General (OAG)
Information Technology Support Division (ITS).
All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made
for hire" and are the property of the OAG. OAG may include pre-selection
requirements that potential Vendors (and their Workers) submit to and satisfy
criminal background checks as authorized by the Texas law. OAG will pay no fees
for interviews or discussions, which occur during the process of selecting a
Worker.
Work under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the
use of initiative and independent judgment.
Oversee or compose, review, and edit technical documents, materials,
and reports.
Develop, prepare, and disseminate policies and procedures for written
documents.
Confer with agency staff in the development of formats, graphics, and
the layout of publications.
Plan and schedule documentation delivery.
Assist with preparing and refining material for speeches and public
presentations.
Assist with development and conducting training courses.
May assign and/or supervise the work of others.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications (Minimum Requirements):
4 years experience in technical writing, journalism, or communications work
4 years experience with techniques and methods of planning, organizing, and
writing various types of materials
4 years experience conducting research to compose, review, illustrate, and
edit technical documents, materials, and reports
4 years experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word
Strong skills in the use of office equipment
Strong communication skills
Preferences:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major
course work in business administration, English, education, or a related field.
Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
Knowledge of research methodology; and of departmental policies, procedures,
and regulations
Term of Service: Services are expected to start as soon as
possible and go through August 31, 2009. Total estimated Worker hours shall not
exceed 1040 hours. This service may be renewed and/or extended further providing
both parties agree in writing to do so.
